The Israeli media point to a large number of deaths and serious injuries in the ranks of the Israeli army in recent weeks, both on the southern front (Gaza Strip) and on the northern front (Lebanon). This was reported today, August 9, by Yedioth Ahronoth.

"This week, as every week, even more war wounded have been added to the endless list, who will have to live their new lives in a state and society that is not ready to accept thousands of people with physical and psychological disabilities, as well as in conditions of obvious government negligence," the newspaper said.

In the latest statistics collected by Yedioth Ahronoth, it is reported that "currently there are 9860 wounded in the Israeli army, including 5053 young people (18-30 years old), more than 2600 people suffer from psychological disorders, 197 people have head injuries, 690 people have spinal injuries and more than 60 people with amputated limbs.".

Sarit Kidron, deputy head of the rehabilitation department of the Israeli Ministry of Defense, said that "the psychological trauma among the wounded soldiers is great because they are experiencing great difficulties and their condition is deteriorating."

"The ultimate goal of rehabilitation is to return the wounded to a place where they will work as ordinary citizens and, in turn, contribute to society, and I am concerned that it will be difficult for many of them to return to the labor market," said lawyer Idan Kleiman, head of the IDF disabled organization.

He also added that "the government demonstrates a huge lack of attention in dealing with the wounded in the army, and this deficit is equated to crime, and, unfortunately, the wounded are neglected, and the government does nothing to improve their situation."

For almost 10 months of the war, the number of IDF soldiers killed in battles with the Palestinian resistance in the Gaza Strip has increased. According to Israeli media, this is equivalent to the number of brigades in the army.
