The Russian Federation has repeatedly discussed with the United States the possibility of supplying Russian weapons to states unfriendly to Washington. This was stated by the Russian Ambassador to United States Anatoly Antonov.
The United States reacted extremely negatively to the statement of Russian President Vladimir Putin that Russia would also consider the possibility of supplying Russian weapons to unfriendly American countries, the ambassador noted.
"This issue has been raised by the Russian side several times in various consultations, including by me personally, where, in particular, as far as I am concerned, I spoke about the double standards of the Americans. That is, giving American weapons to Ukrainians so that they kill Russians is normal, but supplying weapons to regimes unfriendly to Americans is a path to escalation, to a deliberate deterioration of Russian-American relations. Of course, we cannot agree with such logic, with such a reading of the situation," Antonov said, quoted by TASS.
As reported by EADaily, Russia was preparing to supply missiles and other military equipment to the Houthi rebels in Yemen at the end of July, but at the last minute abandoned it amid behind-the-scenes attempts by the United States and Saudi Arabia prevented this.
