"Dozens" of security personnel have been detained in Iran during the investigation into the murder of the head of the Hamas politburo, Ismail Haniyeh.

This is reported by The New York Times (NYT), citing its own sources. The article says that all full-time employees of the guest house in Tehran, in which the deceased was, as well as the military, who were responsible for guarding the building, were detained.

The detentions began after information began to appear in a number of Western media outlets that the Israeli Mossad was behind the murder of Haniyeh, who used recruited agents to plant explosive devices in the premises of the guest house.

Iranian officials have already blamed Israel and the United States for the murder of Haniyeh. At the same time, the use of aviation weapons was considered as the initial version.

As EADaily reported, earlier in the Western press there was information that the explosives for the assassination of the head of the Hamas political bureau, Ismail Haniyeh, were laid by Mossad agents from the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC, elite units Iranian Armed Forces).
