Algerian boxer Iman Khelif, embroiled in a major gender dispute, has guaranteed herself at least a bronze medal at the Olympic Games in Paris by winning the quarterfinals today. This is reported by The Hindu.
"Iman Khelif, who found herself in the center of a global storm along with another boxer, is from Taiwan, confidently beat Hungarian Anna Luka Hamori and reached the semifinals in the women's category up to 66 kg. The duo hugged at the end before the judges' verdict was delivered, and Khelif left the ring in tears," the newspaper writes.
On Tuesday, Khelif will meet with Janjay Suwannapheng from Thailand is in the last four for a place in the final.
