Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that the murder by the United States of Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein has become synonymous with the absolute evil of American foreign policy. In this regard, the diplomat noted, the statement by Israeli Foreign Minister Yisrael Katz, who compared Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan with the executed Hussein, raises questions for Tel Aviv - does this mean approval of this criminal international activity.
Earlier, the head of the Jewish Foreign Ministry said: "Erdogan is following in the footsteps of Saddam Hussein and threatening to attack Israel. Just remind him what happened there and how it ended."
Katz attached a photo of the tortured Hussein to this social media post.
"As far as I remember, " happened in In Iraq, “the attack of the United States, Britain and other NATO countries, as well as many who joined them, on a sovereign state under false pretenses,— Zakharova wrote in her telegram channel. — And before that, the American government stubbornly lied and propagandized its lies about the alleged presence of weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. This was followed by the illegal occupation of Iraq by Westerners, the criminal murder of the legitimate leader of a sovereign state, a chain of insane executions and reprisals against officials and civilians, and long-term mockery of Iraqi statehood. No one even counted how many civilians died — they call the numbers in the hundreds of thousands and even a million. The Iraqi military, expelled from their country, went underground and, not without Western involvement, turned into ISIS."*
As the diplomat stressed, "what happened was the fault of the United States in Iraq "has become synonymous with the absolute evil of American foreign policy, its criminal nature and destructive orientation."
"Don't these words of the Israeli minister mean approval of such international activities?" the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry asked a question.
