Eight people were killed when a Norwegian fishing vessel crashed off the Falkland Islands, the EFE news agency reports.

"At least eight crew members died as a result of an accident with the fishing vessel Argos Georgia, which sank off the Falkland Islands on Monday," the agency reports.

Earlier, EFE reported three deaths out of 27 crew members.

NRK TV and radio company, citing the Main Rescue Operations Control Center (HRS), previously reported that the sunken ship belonged to the Norwegian company Ervik Havfiske and sailed under the flag of St. Helena Island.

The EFE news agency also reported that among the 27 people on board the ship were ten Spaniards, eight Russians, two Uruguayans, two Peruvians and five Indonesians.
