Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin, following the fact-finding session of the G7 summit in Toronto, said that the G7 countries supported Ukraine's position on the peacekeepers introduction in the Donbass.

"While discussing the peacekeeping operation format, everyone agreed that we should follow the logic when first we achieve basic security, then control over the occupied territories, the police component and only then prepare for the elections," Ukrinform quotes the head of the Ukrainian diplomacy as saying.

At the same time, Klimkin has traditionally criticized the Russian plan for deploying the peacekeeping contingent. In his view, Russia's position is aimed at "strengthening and further promoting its protectorate as a Trojan Horse in order to destabilize and destroy Ukraine."

Recall that Kiev seeks to introduce UN peacekeepers into Donbass. At the same time, Russian President Vladimir Putin also supports the idea of sending UN peacekeepers to Ukraine, but the Kremlin believes that it can only concern the function of ensuring security of OSCE personnel, while Kiev's position is that the UN mission should have a broader mandate and be located throughout the Donbass region right up to the border with Russia.
