Russian-Belarusian paratroopers hold drills near Brest

Today, on April 10, Brest polygon in Belarus hosted ceremonial opening of joint drills of Russian and Belarusian paratroopers. Over 600 troops and about 100 pieces of military hardware and special equipment are involved in the drills, the Defense Ministry of Russia reports.

According to the source, landing of airborne troops and vertical maneuvers will be worked out during drills along with counter-sabotage skills, blocking and destruction of illegal armed groups.

The major phase of the drill is set for April 10-12. For Russian paratroopers, this is the first international exercise outside Russia in 2018. Belarus is represented by subdivisions of the 38th Guards Air Assault Brigade, and Russia – by the Guards Air Assault Division of the Russian Airborne Troops based in Pskov.
