Olena Zerkal, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine for European Integration, believes that it is necessary to conclude a new Treaty on Friendship, Cooperation and Partnership with Russia, taking into account the current situation. The announcement was made on air of the New Time radio station.
As the diplomat noted, the existing treaty should be terminated.
"In the new realities of relations with Russia, we still need to reach a new agreement that will also include legal instruments for resolving disputes between the countries," RT quotes her as saying.
According to the deputy minister, "any relationship with Russia should already be based on completely different grounds and build upon completely different realities than those that were in the 90's."
Earlier, Pavlo Klimkin, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, stated that the Treaty on Friendship, Cooperation and Partnership with Russia in its present form does not work and is a "mockery".
