Latvian Foreign Minister Edgars Rinkēvičs has announced that his country supports Britain in accusing Russia of poisoning the ex-colonel of the Russian secret service Sergei Skripal, EADaily’s correspondent reports.

"We fully support our friend and ally Britain in the case of using a military-grade nerve agent against a former GRU (Russian secret service – EADaily’s note) officer. The case of poisoning Sergei Skripal and his daughter Yulia is a clear violation of the international law. Russia must promptly provide a full explanation. And the EU and NATO should give a unified and effective response to this criminal act," the head of the Latvian Foreign Ministry wrote in Twitter.

To remind, the day before Lithuanian Foreign Minister Linas Linkevičius also supported the statement of the British authorities about Russia's involvement in the former GRU colonel Sergei Skripal poisoning. Linkevičius urged "investigation and punishment of the perpetrators" and added that the British government pointed out a possibility that Russia was behind the attack.
