The Most-Híd party that is a part of the Slovak ruling coalition urges to call for early parliamentary elections after the assassination of reporter Jan Kuciak, SME reports.

Leader of the Most-Híd party Bela Bugar has announced that the Republican Council of the party entrusts the party leadership to discuss a possibility of early parliamentary elections that are to be held as soon as possible.

“We have voted unanimously, if we come to agreement on early elections, our ministers will remain on their posts,” Bugar said. In case the government does not give its consent for the elections, the party plans to leave the coalition which, most probably, will result in early termination of the parliament’s office. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Robert Fico opposes the early elections.

The crime caused mass protest actions; the protesters urged Interior Minister Robert Kalinak to resign. Several Slovak media, in particular, Aktuality website, for which Kuciak was writing articles, posed under question political future of Robert Fico who has been prime minister since 2006 with an interruption in 2010-2012.
