Moldovan Justice Minister Alexander Tanase has sent in his resignation. He made his decision public in his social network account.

Earlier, Moldovan media published a record of Tanase and businessman Veaceslav Platon’s talk they had three years ago. Platon is reportedly involved in stealing 1m EUR from the country’s bank system. In April 2017, he was convicted and given a 18-year statement for money-laundering and a grand fraud.

The minister said that the reason for his resignation was “unjustified erosion of confidence,” so he did not see himself a civil servant any longer.

According to the minister, he and his team “are not allowed to develop their program to fight corruption while government institutions do not want to cooperate with the justice ministry.”

He stressed that nobody called him to interfere in the politics and he agreed to take the post comprehending the whole range of responsibility. Tanase was serving as justice minister for two months.
