Russian Ambassador to Turkey Andrei Karlov was killed in Ankara in a shooting attack. Russian Foreign Ministry’s Spokesperson Maria Zakharova has confirmed the report. Moscow calls the attack a terror act.

On December 19, an armed man attacked the ambassador when he was delivering a speech while inaugurating a photo exhibition at an Ankara contemporary art center. Three more people were wounded. The attacker was reportedly killed after the assassination. He had produced about six shots chanting about Aleppo and Syria.

At first, the Russian embassy denied reports on death of the ambassador saying only he was taken to hospital.
