Vladimir Putin dismisses Sergey Ivanov as head of his administration

Sergey Ivanov has been dismissed from the post of head of the presidential administration. He is replaced by Anton Vaino. Ivanov is appointed special presidential representative for environment protection, ecology and transport, the Kremlin press office informs.

“The president has appointed A. Vaino as head of the presidential administration,” says a statement released by the Kremlin.

Anton Vaino is 44, he was born in Tallinn and educated from the Moscow State Institute for International Relations (MGIMO). In 1996-2001, he worked at the Russian embassy in Japan, then at the protocol service, since 2007 he was at managerial positions in the administration of the Russian government. Since May 2012 he was deputy head of the president’s administration.

Anton Vaino’s grandfather, Carl Vaino, was first secretary of the Central Committee of the Estonian Communist Party in 1978-1988.
