The Moldavian side has refused to seat at a negotiating table with Tiraspol leaving open the issue of the railway communication of the region. Wednesday, on August 11, the Foreign Ministry of Transnistria received an official letter from the representative for political issues from Moldova saying that the meeting is cancelled due to the “vacation season.”

Chisinau has demonstrated “carelessness towards the negotiations and the political and diplomatic mechanisms of settling the disputes as well as unwillingness to act constructively,” the Foreign Ministry of Transnistria says. Transnistria urges the mediators and observers in the 5+2 format (Tiraspol and Chisinau – the sides to the conflict, Ukraine, Russia and OSCE – mediators, EU and U.S. – observers) “to give an assessment to Chisinau’s negligence towards the negotiating mechanisms in favor of one-sided, discriminative measures.”

As EADaily reported earlier, in 2016, Kiev removed the stations on the Transnistrian section of the Moldova-Ukraine border from the freight traffic chart in view of “impossibility of their control by Chisinau.” Under the new chart approved by the railway communication departments of Moldova and Ukraine, cargoes are delivered to the region via the adjacent Moldavian stations and by the railway vehicles of Moldova. Eventually, the delivery of a range of socially important goods has become impossible.
