Illegal traders of radioactive cesium detained in Georgia

Georgian law enforcement officers have detained three people who are accused of planning to sell an unnamed amount of cesium-137 for $100,000, press office of the Georgian State Security Service informs.

According to the report, investigators have found that the group illegally acquired some cesium-137and hided it in Tbilisi without necessary protection. The radioactive substance was withdrawn.

The State Security Service launched investigation on the charge of illegal radioactive material trafficking. The suspects may be convicted for five-ten years in prison on this charge, if found guilty.
