Russia’s Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev calls energy blockade of Crimea “genocide” and “swinishness”.

“Whatever the Ukrainian leaders say, what happened to the electricity supply can be called nothing but genocide. It was a caddish and, as people say, thuggish position, when social institutions and people whom the Ukrainian government calls “our people”, were cut from electricity. How can we call it? It is mere swinishness and nothing else,” Medvedev announced while speaking to Russian TV-channels.

Meanwhile, he said Russia was prepared for such a development, so there was no collapse.

“Even in the most tense period, electricity was supplied to social institutions, hospitals. Quite recently, the first power line to the peninsula started operating. Soon, we shall connect the second line from the first stage, and two more next May. Overall, that will be 800 megawatt. This will fully cover Crimea’s demand,” he explained.

Besides, two new power stations are planned to be built by 2018, in Simferopol and Sevastopol. Thus, Crimea will cease to suffer from energy deficit, it will have energy surplus, Medvedev promised.
