President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko has come out with a statement saying Ukraine has finally started receiving defensive non-lethal weapons from foreign countries. “We are grateful to them for the defensive non-lethal weapons we have received finally,” Poroshenko said opening the military exposition “Might of the Unbroken” at Mykhailivska Square in Kiev.
“We have no reason to ease off. We must exert more efforts towards high-quality arming of Ukraine’s Armed Forces. It is difficult, costly, and very expensive, it requires huge human resources, material and technical reserves, finance, but, unfortunately, there is no alternative to it. Today, at this exposition, you can see models of the military equipment made in Ukraine and in other countries. Here you can see also the equipment we have received from our allies and partners,” the Ukrainian president said.
At the same time, Poroshenko said: “We do not need foreign soldiers, Ukrainians have enough military skills and moral courage to defend their land from the occupants.”
As EADaily reported earlier, on Oct 8 the U.S. Senate adopted a defense authorization bill for 2016, which authorizes U.S. Defense Secretary Ashton Carter and Secretary of State John Kerry to use $300 million on “security and reconnaissance aid” to Ukraine. Moscow responded extremely negatively to the bill.
