The situation in Syria will hardly worsen Russia’s relations with Turkey, Spokesperson for Russia’s Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova said on Oct 8.

According to Zakharova, the Russian-Turkish relations are developing and the countries are actively contacting on Syria.

Earlier, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan warned Russia that Turkey might cancel their contracts on gas supplies and Akkuyu NPP because of Russia’s policy to support Syrian President Bashar al-Assad. "Russia must be sensitive in these issues. We are the number one consumer of Russia's natural gas. Losing Turkey would be a serious loss for Russia. If needed, Turkey can buy natural gas from many different places," Erdogan said, adding that “if the Russians do not build Akkuyu nuclear power plant, someone else will come and build it."
