Authorities of Tajikistan have charged opening access to social media Facebook and Odnoklassniki, as well as YouTube, local Internet providers said on September 24. “We have been charged to restore access to facebook.com, ok.ru, and youtube.com.  We have not been informed of the reasons of unblocking these website like a month ago when we were charged to block the access to these social media,” one of the companies told journalists.

It is not the first case when websites are blocked. For instance, the above social media and some online media were blocked in the period from May 29 up to June 9. There were assumptions that the authorities denied access to the above websites, as a large-scale conference taking stock of progress made during the International Decade of Water for Life (2005-2015) was initiated by Tajikistan. The event brought together 1.5 thousand representatives of 99 countries. UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon attended the even too.
