Azerbaijan, Armenia, Cambodia and Nepal are joining the Shanghai Cooperation Organization as dialog partners, Russian President Vladimir Putin has announced today, on July 10, at a meeting of the SCO presidential council.
“Even more countries have shown interest in joining our organization in this or that form. We will thoroughly examine their applications taking into account relevant regulations,” the Russian president is quoted as saying by the Kremlin press office.
According to Putin, the current summit is opening a new stage in the SCO development. As he notes. For the first time in the organization’s history, new members, India and Pakistan, are being admitted. “We have agreed to raise the status of Belarus in SCO to the level of an associate member state,” he informs.
