Renewal of foreign financial assistance to Moldova depends on sustainability of reforms in the country, analyst Ovidiu Nahoi has said on air of TVR Moldova channel.

He believes sanctions imposed by foreign donors against Moldova will have no effect. According to the expert, the sanctions may reduce EU supporters in Moldova.

At the same time, continuing reforms in the republic is a pre-condition for Moldova's association with the EU and as a consequence, renewal of financial aid to the country facing a default.

"Romania has come through hard times, the EU introduced sanctions that made the people press the politicians to make them implement reforms," Nahoi said.

Black Sea Trust GMF* analyst  Sergiu Panainte believes the best tool for making Moldovan politicians conduct reforms is the Moldova-EU Association Agreement.

"According to the document, Moldovan politicians are obliges to carry out reforms. The EU will give the money in exchange. And if there are no reforms, the financing is suspended," Panainte concluded.
