The Turkish Stream will help to enhance energy security in Europe, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said during a meeting with his Serb counterpart Ivica Dacic.

“If the European Union is actually interested in its energy security, it should support this idea and help us to carry it out. We are not trying to impose anything on anybody. We are just offering something that comes from our capacities and our agreements with Turkey. We see that Greece, FYR Macedonia, Hungary and some other countries of the region are interested in this project,” Lavrov said.

He said that the main thing now is to consider practical aspects, like logistics and financing. “People responsible for energy and gas cooperation in those countries are currently doing this,” the Russian foreign minister said.
