President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan, who is paying a state visit to China, met on Wednesday with Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China and the President of the People's Republic of China.
The press service of the Armenian President has told EAD that as a result of their meeting Sargsyan and Jinping signed a joint declaration confirming the countries’ commitment to deepen their friendly relations.
Over a dozen documents have been signed as a result of Sargsyan’s visit: an agreement on mutual legal assistance in criminal cases; an inter-governmental agreement on technical economic cooperation; a framework inter-governmental agreement for China to provide Armenia with a preferential credit; an inter-governmental agreement on cooperation and mutual assistance in customs affairs; an inter-governmental agreement on mutual recognition of university diplomas and academic degrees; an inter-governmental agreement on cooperation in tourism; a memorandum between the Ministry of Economic of Armenia and the Ministry of Commerce of China on joint efforts to create a Silk Road economic zone; an agreement between the Police of Armenia and the Ministry of Public Security of China on cooperation in prevention and disclosure of crimes; an agreement between the Central Bank of Armenia and the National Bank of China on AMD/CNY SWAP regulation; a preferential credit agreement between the Ministry of Finance of Armenia (as the borrower) and the Export-Import Bank of China (as the lender) under the program to upgrade customs control technologies in Armenia; and a memorandum of mutual understanding on nuclear energy cooperation.
