Poland calls NATO to intervene in Ukraine-Hungary dispute

Polish Foreign Minister Jacek Czaputowicz has called NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg to intervene in the Ukraine-Hungary dispute to make it settled.

As Polsatnews reports, during a NATO Parliamentary Assembly session delegates raised the issue of Hungary blocking the meeting of the Ukraine-NATO Commission because of the dispute over the rights of the Hungarian minority in Ukraine. Budapest even called the alliance to fully revise the policy towards Ukraine saying it has become “dangerous for its neighbors.”

Czaputowicz noted that he discussed the issue with his Hungarian counterpart Peter Szijjarto several days ago. He said he was going to have a talk with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin on the issue. He said the frictions between Ukraine and Hungary “a family dispute.”

“Probably, it would be useful to engage a third party, for instance, the NATO secretary general,” the Polish minister said.

It was reported earlier, that a meeting of the Ukraine-NATO commission at the level of ambassadors will take place on May 28.
