Commander of the Russian Center for Syrian reconciliation Maj. Gen. Yuri Yevtushenko has called allegations on the Syrian government forces using chemical weapons in Douma false.
“We firmly refute the reports and announce our readiness to send Russian experts in radiological, chemical and biological safety after the town of Douma is released from militants to collect data that will confirm the fake nature of such statements,” the general said.
He mentioned that the information on Syrian Armed Forces using a chlorine bomb was disseminated by “a number of so-called non-governmental organizations including the White Helmets notorious for their fake news.”
Yevtushenko noted that today, on April 8, an operation starts to withdraw militants of the Jaysh al-Islam group from Douma, and statements on chemical attacks are used by several Western countries to derail the operation.
The humanitarian corridor in al-Wafideen needed for safe exit from Douma still continues operating.
