The Civil Contract Party of Armenia is set to start 24-hour protests against potential appointment of Serzh Sargsyan as prime minister of Armenia. On the first day of protests, on March 31, the road-map of Civil Contract Party’s action will be made public.
Talking to journalists at a press conference today, Nikol Pashinyan, leader of Civil Contract, said Serzh Sargsyan will not be in power for about 10 days (April 9-19). “Our task is to prevent his return to power through protests,” Pashinyan said.
He hopes the citizens of Armenia will join the protests. Pashinyan recalled that his Party supports peaceful fight and will cooperate with the political forces sharing this principle. “Even if they use force against us, we will not retaliate,” the oppositionist said.
As EADaily reported earlier, Serzh Sargsyan’s term is ending on April 9. In his latest interview, the incumbent president hinted that he would not mind taking prime minister’s post. Noteworthy that after Constitutional amendments, Armenia has become a parliamentary state with the prime minister having the real power in the country.
