The Ukrainian Cabinet of Ministers is to terminate the economic cooperation program with Russia at its next session on March 21, Ukrainian Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman posted in Twitter.
According to him, the Ukrainian government is ready to take the decision on suspending the economic cooperation program. “Russia must pay a high price for the aggression against Ukraine,” he wrote.
The program was adopted on July 7, 2011, and envisaged cooperation in a number of fields in economy, trade, transportation, tourism and border.
Earlier, the Ukrainian foreign ministry drafted several scenarios for suspending the document, in particular, it was supposed that the program will be denounced partially.
Last year, despite the sanctions, Russia sold to Ukraine goods worth $7.2bn, which is by 139.9% more than in 2016. At the same time, Ukraine’s share in Russia’s trade turnover did not change in 2017 (2.2%).
