Prosecutor General's Office of Ukraine: Yanukovych case can be reviewed

The judicial reform in Ukraine can significantly influence the trial of Viktor Yanukovych. As a result of establishment of district courts, the case against the former president is likely to be reviewed anew, from the very beginning, the Deputy Prosecutor General of Ukraine Yevgeny Yenin said on air of Channel 5.

"We are concerned about the results of the establishment of district courts. The question of Yanukovych's case remains open, because in connection with the establishment of a district court, it is likely that all materials will be heard anew," Yenin said.

He added that the Prosecutor General's Office cannot allow all resonant cases to be heard anew.

To recall, the Prosecutor General's Office suspects Yanukovych of state treason. A photocopy of his statement of March 1, 2014 with the request to introduce Russian troops into the country serves as evidence. Also, all interviews of the ex-president are to be examined during the investigation of the Maidan events.
