The parliament of Tajikistan has passed a bill allowing domestic and foreign businessmen having profit from temporary privatization of infrastructure facilities for a long term.
The facilities include roads, bridges, kindergartens, electric mains, car parks and logistics centers. One of the targets of privatization is to alleviate burden of the state budget, increase state revenues, raise effectiveness of state assets usage and extending the basis of dividends.
The Tajik government has elaborated a strategic program for privatization of medium and big companies and restructuring of natural monopolies and especially big companies for 2003-2013. From the 459 medium and big companies 424 are already privatized.
There have been no high-profile deals yet, as they are only expecting to take place. Tajik giants are to be privatized next year, including Barki Tojik energy company, the national railways company, Tajik Air, Tajiktelecom, Teleradiocom, Tajikkhimprom. Besides, the countries gas-supplying system, energy system, international airports in Dushanbe, Khujand, Kurganteppa and Kulob.
