On June 8, the National Security Committee (NSC) of Kazakhstan along with some experts officially disproved the existence of the Kazakhstan Liberation Army. According to some reports, an organization called the Kazakhstan Liberation Army has allegedly claimed the responsibility for the recent bloodshed in Aktobe. A leading Kazakhstani expert in terrorism Yerlan Karin immediately responded to those reports saying the Kazakhstan Liberation Army is most probably a fake, as EADaily reported earlier. The NSC, in turn, urged journalists to verify such reports before disseminating them.
The RFE/RL Russian Service was the first to “discover” the so-called Kazakhstan Liberation Army in a news item with relevant content. “The National Security Committee officially reports that the given information does not correspond to reality. There is no Kazakhstan Liberation Army,” the NSC of Kazakhstan reported.
The Committee does not specify what measures it will take against the provocateurs from RFE/RL for disseminating such dangerous misreports.
In the meantime, last night, the Kazakhstan law-enforcement detained another terrorist in Aktyubinsk region. Official Representative of the Interior Ministry of Kazakhstan Almas Sadubayev said the Police operation to detain the criminals continues. Measures are being taken to provide security and legal order in the territory of Aktobe. “One of the attackers was detained early in the morning today in Khobda village,” he said adding that the other six criminals are still wanted.
Aktobe where on June 5, armed people attacked gun shops and a military base was put on red alert. A counter-terror operation regime was imposed in the whole region. In a severe armed clash with the law-enforcers, 13 criminals were killed, 4 were wounded, with another 7 being wanted. The alert level has been lowered to yellow on the territory of Kazakhstan, but it will be valid for at least 40 days. “The situation in Aktobe and generally in the country is stable and under control,” the Interior Ministry of Kazakhstan said in a statement wherein it disclaims the Aktobe residents’ posts in social media saying that shootings allegedly continued in the town on June 6 and 7.
