President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko has offered the Turkish business to participate in the privatization of the Ukrainian state-run enterprises. The president made such a suggestion at a joint briefing with his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
“We have suggested the Turkish side to taken an active part in the privatization processes that are taking shape in Ukraine. In the course of negotiations, we agreed that the pivotal direction for our further cooperation will be the defense and industrial and aerospace fields,” Poroshenko said. The sides seek cooperation in the fields of trade, tourism, energy, culture and others too.
Earlier on Wednesday, during his meeting with Prime Minister of Turkey Ahmet Davutoğlu, Petro Poroshenko said that Ukraine is ready to give Turkey an opportunity to use Ukraine’s underground gasholders to store its gas.
EADaily reported earlier that Ukraine’s Supreme Rada passed a law on February 16 banning the citizens and companies of Russia from participating in the privatization of the state-run enterprises in Ukraine. In addition, the law cancels the compulsory pre-sale of 5%-10% of an enterprise on the stock exchange prior to tender.
Previously, after his meeting with U.S. Secretary for Trade Penny Pritzker, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko said he was happy to see Washington’s interest in privatization of the state-run enterprises in Ukraine.
