Material support units of the Russian Armed Forces have completed the construction of drinking water pipelines to Crimea, Dmitry Bulgakov, First Deputy Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation, said today, on May 12.
“Forty-eight lines of water pipelines with a total length of 412.4km were assembled,” he said. “About 500 servicemen of the material support units and nearly 200 pieces of equipment of the Western and Eastern Military Districts were involved into the construction activities in Crimea.”
“For the time being, over 0.5 million cubic meters of drinking water have been supplied,” Bulgakov said. He recalled that last year, in the period from May to November, the material support unit of the Western Ministry District ensured supply of over 700,000 cubic meters of drinking water from the artesian wells to dozens of settlements in Crimea. Over 125km-long field main pipelines were laid on the peninsula.
