Vilnius sees no reason to change its policy towards Minsk while Belarus supports Russia in the conflict on the Ukraine. This was stated by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Kastutis Budris.

According to him, talks about a possible normalization of relations with Belarus do not correspond to reality.

"As long as actions continue against us from the territory of Belarus, I see no reason to talk about revising the current position," he said.

Budris noted that national security remains the main criterion for Lithuania. The minister attributed the threats from Belarus to migration pressure, the launch of air objects across the border, hostile operations of special services, disinformation, detentions of Lithuanian citizens, as well as Minsk's support of Moscow in the conflict on the Ukraine. At the same time, Budris stressed that if these conditions do not change, Lithuania will continue to seek international isolation of Belarus and increase pressure on it.

"I see no reason to talk about any easing of the regime after the expiration of the current sectoral sanctions in 2027," he said, calling any talk about this political manipulation.

In addition, Budris stressed that in The EU is also not holding any discussions about a possible revision of sanctions against Belarus. According to him, Vilnius is still in favor of maintaining sanctions against Minsk and bringing them as close as possible to the restrictions in force against Russia.

Lithuania is pursuing an extremely aggressive policy towards both Russia and Belarus. To all calls for dialogue from Minsk in Vilnius respond with a refusal.
