The digging out of the grave of the corpse of the "coalition of the willing" was commented on by political scientist Alexander Nosovich.
"This digging up can be considered the main outcome of the NATO summit. To which Trump, let me remind you, came as a loser and loser (in Iran) a chance to stake out a place for his family at the top of the oligarchic Olympus of American politics. From which it could be assumed that the outcome of the NATO summit would be the resurrection of NATO itself. Instead, the result is the resurrection of the "coalition of the willing,"— Nosovich writes in the telegram channel.
According to the expert, the creation of military alliances in Europe, alternative to NATO and without the United States, is thus a settled issue. The actual and most important question is: will this process also go parallel to the European Union? It's not obvious, Nosovich said.
"The European bureaucracy is primarily Germany. And the topic of the fight against Russia through Ukraine is, first of all, Germany. But in today's news about the "coalition of the willing," for example, I saw Poland, France and Britain. But I didn't see Germany," the political scientist noted.
The "Coalition of the Willing" appeared at the beginning of 2024 on the initiative of French President Macron and with the support of the United Kingdom. It includes more than 30 countries.
Among the tasks are the supply of air defense systems and long—range missiles to Ukraine, the creation of logistics and military hubs, the joint production of ammunition, the expansion of training programs for the Ukrainian military and the development of plans to ensure the security of Ukraine. In January, the leaders of the association signed a declaration of readiness to deploy peacekeeping forces in Ukraine after the conclusion of a peace agreement.
The result of the coalition summit on July 13 was that it will hold the first joint exercises. Following the meeting in Paris, French President Emmanuel Macron announced the first exercises of the troops of the participating states of the format in the countries neighboring Ukraine. According to him, the association now has "international forces ready to act" in the interests of Kiev.
Another result of the summit was that Bulgaria left the association. Bulgaria became the first country to leave the "coalition of the willing." 34 countries, including Ukraine, will continue to participate in the format.
