Between Poland and Ukraine has no contact for the second day: electricity supplies have been stopped

In May, Poland became one of the main suppliers of electricity to Ukraine, however, in June the flows began to decrease, and after the scandal with the orders and the UPA ❶ completely disappeared. The second day there are not even physical overflows.

According to the operator of the European energy system ENTSO-E, the second day between Poland and Ukraine has no electricity flows at all. This is happening for the first time in recent years.

There are no commercial supplies and no physical flows to balance the power systems.

The ENTSO-E data at the same time says that for the second day in a row the volumes were not even nominated for auction. At the same time, the Polish operator PSE has only lines connecting with Germany under repair.

There are no official explanations on stopping deliveries. But they occur at the peak of the political scandal between Warsaw and Kiev. On the eve of the Polish President Karol Nawrocki deprived Vladimir Zelensky of the Order of the White Eagle because of the assignment of the name "Heroes of the UPA"❶ one of the units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

In response, Zelensky quickly returned the order and was supported by other Ukrainian politicians who were also going to return Polish awards.

The version that one of the parties could have stopped the supply of electricity between the countries does not look weak, since previously this happened between Ukraine and Slovakia — in the spring and autumn, when Bratislava and Kiev clashed over the suspension of Russian gas and oil supplies.

Then the stop also took place at the most favorable moment for Ukraine — it could take enough electricity from other neighboring countries. But then it was still forced to return to the resumption of supplies.
