US President Donald Trump said that all Europeans are "speculators." Thus, he repeated the accusation made by high-ranking American officials in the Signal discussion group, which was disclosed by a journalist of The Atlantic magazine.
"Yes, I think they were speculators," the US president said.
"The European Union has treated us absolutely terribly," Trump added, mentioning NATO and the costs incurred by the United States to support Ukraine.
A group of private messages of senior US officials, discovered by The Atlantic, revealed a "dislike" for Europe on the part of some members of the Trump administration, such as Vice President J. D. Vance and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, who discussed the possibility of forcing Europe to pay Washington for the attack on Yemen in order to resume shipping lanes.
Among the messages of the group created in the Signal messaging app in order to coordinate and share confidential information about the operation in Yemen, there are texts in which Vance demonstrates "dislike" for "another rescue of Europe."
