The conversation of the Presidents The Russian Federation and the United States will take place today, March 18, between 16.00 and 18.00 Moscow time, the press secretary of the Russian leader Dmitry Peskov confirmed to journalists.
"It really will be from 16 to 18 Moscow time," he said.
As Peskov said, "the leaders will talk as much as they see fit."
"We will inform you about the results of this conversation, as we usually do. We will do it as quickly as possible," he said.
The Kremlin spokesman added that "the form [format of announcing the results of the conversation] has not yet been chosen, exactly how we will do it."
"We will quickly make a decision based on the results of the conversation," he said, quoted by TASS.
Trump also told reporters that he plans to pay attention to territorial and infrastructural issues in the context of the Ukrainian conflict.
"Indeed, there have been certain discussions [between Moscow and Washington],— Peskov continued. — And [Special Envoy of the US President Stephen] Witkoff was in Moscow, and in There were talks in Istanbul, and earlier there was the first telephone conversation between the two presidents. Therefore, there is a certain understanding, of course. But there are also a large number of issues related to the further normalization of our bilateral relations and the Ukrainian settlement. All this is to be discussed by the two presidents."
Earlier, Trump said that the United States had agreed with Russia on "many elements" of a plan to end the war in Ukraine, but "much remains to be discussed." He recalled that on March 18 he would have a telephone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin, who, according to him, was looking forward to it. The talks will be devoted to the peaceful settlement of the military conflict, in particular the truce.
Prior to that, Trump expressed confidence that Russia would agree to a temporary truce. "We are approaching a very critical stage [of negotiations] and we want to completely resolve the issue of Russia and Ukraine. I think Ukraine wants it, I know they want it. All the players want this," the American president said. According to Semafor sources, the US administration is considering the possibility of officially recognizing Crimea as part of Russia in the event of peace. Washington may also apply to the UN with a proposal to recognize the peninsula as Russian at the international level.
