The Ukrainian authorities believe that the suspension of military assistance from the United States will lead to the loss of territories. This was reported by the European version of the Politico newspaper with reference to an unnamed high-ranking Ukrainian official.
"First of all, the current stop [of military aid] leaves hope for the resumption [of supplies], so this is a measure of forced diplomacy, and not a break [in relations]. Secondly, it is very painful, but not fatal," he said.
The official believes that the suspension of aid "will cost Ukraine unnecessary deaths and lost territories, but will not lead to defeat." He expressed confidence that Kiev will be able to find a "solution formula" with the US administration.
As EADaily reported, Trump ordered the suspension of all military assistance to Ukraine after an altercation with Vladimir Zelensky in the Oval Office on February 28. Washington stops all current military supplies to Ukraine until Kiev demonstrates its readiness to negotiate peace. Not only future deliveries have been stopped, but also those that are already on the way: on planes, ships or in the transit zone in Poland. We are talking about "critical ammunition", guided multiple launch rocket systems and anti-tank weapons, the agency said.
