Some forces from the former Georgian government are plotting an attempt on the life of former prime minister of Georgia Bidzina Ivanishvili, says ex National Security Minister of Georgia Irakli Batiashvili.
In an interview to the Imedi TV company, he said that he had learned that from a reliable source. “Some former officials, who are now abroad, are plotting a terrorist act against Ivanishvili. They have already sent a group of their men for reconnaissance,” Batiashvili said.
According to him, should Ivanishvili be killed, it will be easy for those forces to change the government.
The leader of the United National Movement of Georgia Akaky Bobokhidze says that his party has no such plans. “Batiashvili must have been informed by a source from Russia’s Federal Security Service but he is mixing two different things: some Chechens or Kazakhs may well be willing to make Ivanishvili answer for his past sins in Russia but former Georgian officials are not going to do anything to him,” Bobokhidze said.
