The goal of the current constitutional reforms in Armenia is to cause a “Maidan” and to make Armenia a part of European civilization, Armenian political expert Eduard Mamikonyan says in an interview to EADaily.
According to the expert, the reforms are based on three principles: no more sovereignty, Social Darwinism (with no more human freedoms) and strong oligarchy.
“The key reason why our authorities are so active in implementing the reforms is that since joining the Eurasian Economic Union they have been strongly pressured by Europe. Their wish to switch to the European system can be seen in the very first paragraph of the new constitution,” Mamikonyan says.
According to him, the new constitution is contrary to the mentality of the Armenian society and may cause even higher poverty. “But there are forces that will fight these reforms,” the expert says.
