The residents of Transnistria will no longer get the Moldovan travel passport free of charge. From now on, they will have to pay for it just like residents of Moldova.
According to Moldova’s Deputy Information Technologies and Communications Minister Vitalie Tarlev, until now the fee has been paid by the Moldovan authorities.
In 2015, they planned to spend 1.8mn MDL (1 MDL=19.05 USD) for this purpose but spent the whole sum during the first six months as more and more Transnistrian residents are seeking to get Moldovan biometrical passports to be able to travel in the EU.
Now, according to Tarlev, the expenses will be optimized and there will be no more injustice with respect to other citizens of Moldova.
